The International Academy of Fashion (formerly known as Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology) was founded in 2000 by visionary leaders Roshani Liyenegey and Niroshani Liyenegey. Over the past 25 years, IAF has grown into a beacon of fashion education in Sri Lanka and beyond, fostering young creative talents and establishing itself as a leader in the global fashion and design industry. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on our journey, honor our achievements, and look forward to shaping the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs.

Our Legacy - A Journey of Creativity and Innovation

Founding Vision:

In 2000, IAF embarked on a mission to provide formal fashion education to aspiring designers in Sri Lanka, reshaping the nation’s fashion landscape. This initiative not only elevated the standards of fashion education in the country but also positioned Sri Lanka as a emerging hub for design talent in the region.

Global Partnerships

With internationalization as a core focus, IAF forged partnerships with leading institutions such as the MODART International (France), Modapelle Academy (Milan), and Tembusu Institute (Singapore). These collaborations have opened doors to global opportunities for our students.
  • In 2022, our founders were honored with the prestigious title of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Government for their contributions to cultural heritage.
  • The Viru Daru Award, received in recognition of IAF’s collaboration with the Sri Lankan Army’s Viru Daru movement, showcasing the power of fashion as a medium for social impact.
  • The Golden Lady Award at VIE Fashion Week Dubai

Academic partnership with the University of Northampton, UK.
2014
Launch of fashion degree program in collaboration with MODART International, Paris.
2015
Academic Collaboration with Modapelle Academy, Milan
2023
Opening of IAF’s first international branch at the Dubai World Trade Center, UAE.

2024
Integration of Level 3 diploma qualification under the OTHM UK framework.
